Completed Philadelphia Marathon
I started working with Lisa Stugart at VYGOR in March 2006. I had been an athlete when I was young, but after having my two kids and gaining over 100 pounds, I had pretty much thrown in the towel on ever getting back into shape. But, I wanted to be around for my children and not have a heart attack or a stroke. I worked with Lisa twice a week, followed her nutrition plan and the weight started to come off. Everything started to feel better; my knees, hips, feet, etc. Initially, I could barely get through 15 minutes on the elliptical machine, but the harder I worked the easier it got. I started running in August 2006 and my first 5k time was around 46min. but I finished. In March 2007, I ran my first half-marathon and actually enjoyed it. My most recent 5k time was 28:28min. and I’m entered in the Philadelphia marathon in Nov. I’m running four times a week and lifting twice and I feel great. With two young children, a husband, pets, family etc. it is sometimes hard to find the time to get in my miles, but I’m fully committed now. Recently, we returned from Hilton Head, a twelve hour drive, and I hadn’t run yet. After getting the car unpacked, the laundry started and the kids to bed, I ran 12 miles on the treadmill – I finished around 1:30am.
I HAVE LOST 125 POUNDS, 72 ½ TOTAL INCHES, AND 20% BODYFAT.
I feel wonderful and look like a different person. People sometimes don’t recognize me which is a good feeling. My family is really proud of me and I am too. I know in the end that I accomplished this, but I couldn’t have done it without my family or Lisa. She was able to keep me going when I felt like quitting. I tried MANY times to diet and exercise on my own, but without Lisa I ‘m pretty sure I would have failed again. Now I’m confident that I can do anything that I decide to do.
